The Universal TV Wall Bracket

When you purchase a TV, the package sometimes includes the TV bracket. The design and elegance might not be to your taste but functionally the wall bracket will hold the TV in place. Manufacturers try to cut costs by providing accessories that do the job but are not overly designed and expensive to produce. The TV manufacturer's primary concern is the television. The universal TV wall mount for flat panel displays have a wall plate that attach to the wall or entertainment center and rails that attach to the back of the TV. The rails are used to fit into pre-drilled holes in the back of the display. Most displays have four or six holes in the back. The rails are usually two perpendicular arms with back-facing devices that connect to the wall plate. Once the plate and rails are in place, the TV can be put on the wall plate. You can center the television by sliding the TV left to right along the length of the wall plate. You can easily replace the screen by lifting the TV off the wall mount and putting a new one in its place. TV wall mounts are made of steel and designed to hold specific ranges of weight. The weight range is defined by the screen size. For instance, a flat panel wall mount could be defined as capable for a 26-42 inch with a maximum weight of 100 pounds while another may be rated at 42-50 inch with a maximum weight of 150 pounds. If you get larger displays, you might need wall plates that attach to two studs rather than one. These wall mounts are referred to as two-stud mounts. You need to use cement anchors if you want to mount the TV to a concrete wall. Lag bolts and other hardware accessories should be inside the mounting kit. Lag bolts are types of fasteners used for making mechanical connections between two pieces of wood to ensure they are held tight together. When used in concrete, you need a special insert called a lag.

To have the appearance of a clean look, the flat screen display should be about one inch from the wall at most. Be sure to connect the wires and cables before mounting the TV as you might have difficulty installing the wires once the TV is mounted. Although you have a clean look, you cannot move the TV anymore. You must make sure the screen is at the correct height with optimum viewing range for all viewers. Other TV brackets provide additional features such as swiveling and tilting the TV while mounted. You might have to sacrifice the clean look for better functionality. The degree of tilt and extent of swiveling will depend on the model of the TV wall bracket. Since the arms may extend forward, it will expose the wall mount. The design of the wall mount should also be considered.

This is a very substantial mount with Dual arms and heavy guage steel. The arms extend over 20-Inch from the wall yet fold to less than 5-Inch. Even at full extension, this mount has very little sag or twist. It is rated for up to 165lbs and most displays 55-Inch and smaller weigh under 100lbs. The unit has dual tilt adjustment knobs and it will tilt forward or back 15 degrees. The wall plate is 19-Inch wide and has wide slots making it easy to mount into standard 16-Inch studs even if they are not exactly 16-Inch apart. Thus, the arms may be visible on the sides of 32-Inch units. The universal design will fit any display with a hole pattern up to 26.3-Inch wide and 18-Inch tall. The wall plate is 1/8-Inch thick and very stable and includes a large center hole for cable pass-though into the wall. Securing TV Brackets on the Wall

TV brackets are meant to be fixed on the wall. It enhances the viewing experience and improves the decor of the room. There are different models and types of TV brackets, such as tilt and swivel. The fixed or immovable TV wall bracket does not have any moving parts. It is secured to the wall and the TV set is mounted on it in a fixed position. This is ideal in a small room. Other TV wall brackets have arms or facilities that allow you to pull the TV away from the wall and adjust it according to the needs of the viewer. It can tilt the screen several degrees upwards or downwards and it can swivel left to right for as much as 360 degrees. The installation process is basically the same, regardless of the features in the different models and types of TV wall brackets.

Firstly, get all the things you will need for fixing the bracket on the wall and mounting the television on the brackets. You will need a stud finder, a spirit level, pencil, drill, screwdrivers, screws, cable finder, pipe finder and measuring tape. The tools must be appropriate to the type of wall. For instance, if you are securing it on a cement wall, the drill bits should be for cement and not wood. You might not need to look for studs if the cement wall is strong and sturdy. However, as a precaution, it is recommended that you secure the TV brackets on studs.

Once you've selected the location for your TV bracket, make sure it is leak free and not subjected to extreme heat. A damp wall or excessive heat can damage the TV. Use the stud finder to find the studs in the wall. Mark the area of the studs and hold the bracket against the wall. Move the bracket around the area until you find a good spot to install the bracket, preferably in the center of the stud. Use the cable and pipe finder to make sure there are no pipes or wires along the way. You don't want to drill holes and accidentally damage a pipe or cable. Use the level to ensure the TV is at the appropriate height and is laid out even and straight. This has to be done carefully as any deviation could result in an uneven or lopsided TV screen. Mark the positions. Place the TV bracket against the wall and mark the spots where you will be drilling the holes. The holes are simply to facilitate placing the screws later. It should be about two metric sizes smaller than the screws, so the screws can be firmly secured in the studs. If the holes are too large, it can loosen the grip of the TV bracket. Fix the bracket on the wall by screwing it in the position. The TV bracket must be firmly in place before mounting the television. If you are attaching the brackets to a cement wall, you will need to put cement anchors in the holes before screwing the TV bracket in place. Make sure the screws are not wiggling or loose. You can test this by shaking the TV bracket and observing if the screws move at all.

How to Choose the Correct Flat Panel HDTV Wall Mount Bracket

With today's High Tech world changing how TV are made is mind boggling. Flat panel HDTVs are getting thinner and thinner and the manufacturers are going more with LED and 3D sets. Any of these styles are engineered either with a single arm or a dual arm. The dual arm by design is stronger than the single arm. Manufacturers keep in mind the size and weight of a flat panel when sizing it up. The amount of extension these arms extend can range from 3 inches and extend outward to as much as 37 inches. When mounting a full motion mount it is a must to attach to wood studs. Metal studs may not hold the amount of force being applied allowing the screws to pull through the metal. Stay away from metal studs. It is highly recommended to use a stud finder in locating the stud center. Hitting the stud center is the lifeline for achieving the mounts weight capacity limits in preventing pullout from poorly aligned lag bolts.

Tilt mounts themselves are getting closer to the wall as well. In the past tilt mounts would have the back of your TV from 4 to 5 inches from the wall. Now, you can find a tilt model that has a profile from the wall of just 1.65 inches. Another new feature becoming more popular is the fingertip adjustable tilt. In the past to adjust the tilt the vertical arms had knobs or screws to set to hold the screen at the desired angle. Now they have tension set screws that once adjusted you simply can push or pull on the top of the TV and it will stay in position.

To sum it up no matter which mount you choose read your owners manual prior to purchase or use a mount finder to help determine what is the correct VESA hole mounting pattern for your TV.

Installing a TV Wall Bracket Above the Fireplace

A good thing about a flat screen is the variety of places you can hang the screen, including a rough stone surface. Putting the screen on top of a fireplace frees up space in the area and adds some class to the room's atmosphere. It is just as simple as installing a TV wall bracket on a wooden wall or smooth cement finish. The same safety precautions should be followed regardless of the location of the wall brackets. Once you have decided that the rough stone surface is the ideal location for your LCD TV, check in the hardware store on the correct mounting devices. The television package may contain a wall mount but it might not be applicable to your final location. It is best to select your own TV brackets since you can specify the condition of the wall and see the displays on how the TV brackets will fit on the wall. Have an electrician help you with the wiring if necessary.

Wood Wall Brackets

Mounting a TV above a fireplace should be high enough for easy viewing from 10 feet away. This is because the fireplace limits the screen from being placed at eye level. If the TV screen can be mounted at eye level, then the 10 foot rule does not apply. Use a tilt mount so the TV screen can be adjusted to face down for comfortable viewing. Use a static flat wall mount or tilt mount for the stone wall. Check the TV manual for recommendations on wall mounts. It may seem cozy watching your favorite show while having a fire to keep you warm but consider the heat coming out of the fireplace. Check the recommended temperatures before installing the mounts. Start a fire and take temperature readings at different levels above the fireplace. Once you find a location that has the acceptable temperature, mark it with indelible markings. Visualize the TV screen in that location while sitting in your couch. If your couch is in the right location in the room, you may have to move the indelible marks to a different place. Take measurements of the distance of the couch to the wall and height of the TV screen.

Wood Wall Brackets

When you go to the hardware, ask the attendants if they have displays similar to your measurements. They might be able to do some minor installations to help you get a better feel of the viewing aspects. You should also consider facilities to hide the wires from view. The place looks more professional and neat if you don't see the wires running all over the place. There are adhesive tapes and other accessories that you can use to disguise the cables from view. Another option would be to install an electrical wall box behind the TV or run wires through the wall to the available electrical outlets.

Be sure you have all the tools for installing the wall mount. The standard tools would be a masonry drill, wall anchors such as raw bolts and concrete sleeve anchors, a level and eye protection goggles. Place the mounting hardware on your previously marked places and see how it appears. Finalize the markings by using a level to make sure the TV wall bracket will be straight. Drill mounting holes equivalent to the size of the anchors that will be used. Insert the anchors firmly into the drill holes. Fix the TV wall brackets to the correct position and screw them to the wall. Hang the television to the mount and lock the safety tabs in place. That should secure the TV from slipping and falling off the mount. Be sure the cables are wiring are in place before mounting the TV set.

Plasma and LCD TV Stands, Cabinets, and Wall Brackets

When you make the investment of purchasing a LCD or plasma TV, it's best to decide on and buy something that will help display your television and protect it at the same time. There are several different items that will work for this.

Wood Wall Brackets

There are TV wall brackets that you can purchase that will mount your LCD or plasma TV on a wall for you. There are a few different varieties of these wall mounting brackets. There are low-profile TV wall mount brackets, tilting wall mounting brackets and full-motion wall mount brackets.

Wood Wall Brackets

Low profile brackets look and feel a lot like hanging a picture on a wall. Strong, metal brackets are braced to the wall, and your LCD or plasma TV hangs on top of them securely. You have to be sure about where you want to hang it because once it's up there, there's no adjusting, and it's hard to remove afterwards. Low-profile wall mounting TV brackets are the cheapest of the different types of wall mounting brackets, and they're the easiest to install, as well.

Tilting wall mount brackets are like low-profile TV wall mount brackets except for the fact that tilting wall mount brackets are adjustable in a side to side motion to make them easy to view from different positions. These brackets are in the moderately priced range. The difficulty of putting tilting wall mount brackets on the wall is comparable to the difficulty level of the full-motion wall mount brackets.

Full-motion wall mount brackets are basically arms that extend your television away from the wall, and they are on an axis that offers a full range of motion for your TV, making it viewable by adjustment from anywhere in the room. Full-motion wall mount brackets are the most complicated TV brackets to mount, and they are often the most expensive, as well.

There are TV stands that are made especially for LCD and plasma TVs. Some have mounting bars on the back of them, and some are made to fit a flat panel TV on them securely. You can find these stands in different materials. The mounted types of stands are usually made of metal. You can find a TV stand made partly of metal, and partly of wood. There's even a stylish looking TV stand made of glass and metal.

Another item that can be used to put your LCD or plasma TV on is a TV cabinet. There are TV cabinets made today to fit LCD and plasma flat panel style TVs. They come in wood, metal, and glass. There are TV cabinets that close up and hide your television when it's not being used. There are other styles of cabinets that look like book shelves. They hold your television, while displaying other items on their multiple shelves.

With all the different items available today to put your plasma or LCD television on, you can make your new TV blend seamlessly into your living area without allowing it to become a chunky eyesore.

The AS3B is a tri-shelf cable management system. It can be used with or without a Plasma/LCD mount. This unit is designed to fit under your display and provide an on wall solution for other components such as cable boxes, DVD players, game consoles, and stereo components. There are three 2.25-Inch holes on the aluminum plate that allow you to cleanly run your cables up to your TV or down to another component, as well as out the bottom to an outlet. After reviewing our competition we realized that most shelving units need to be mounted directly into a wall stud. In most cases the wall stud is placed to the right or to the left of the display, which is not where most people prefer to have their shelves mounted. This is still the most secure option however, after significant research we’ve fount that using the correct toggle bolts can allow you to mount your shelving unit wherever you see fit. With the combination of four of these toggle bolts the shelving unit is able to hold well over 70LBS safely. Each individual toggle bolt provides 75LBS of support. Please not that a good toggle bolt is still only as good as the quality of the drywall it is mounted into. If you have water damage or .25-Inch drywall please add a support for your shelving unit.
